Are you tired of receiving advertising communications from companies to which you have never requested information, nor have you been a client?
As consumers and users, can we do something to stop it?
The answer is yes. Thanks to the entry into force in 2018 of more restrictive regulations on data protection and privacy (such as the RGPD and the LOPDGDD), these companies have seen their commercial actions limited. However, in certain sectors related to supplies (electricity and gas) or mobile telephony and internet, tactics to attract customers, still very aggressive, continue to be maintained.
For this, consumers and users have the option of registering on what is called the ROBINSON LIST (among other public and free resources available).
All users, including minors over the age of 14 or, failing that, their guardian, will have the right to register for the free Robinson List service of the country of residence, in order to avoid receiving postal mail, emails , telephone calls and/or advertising SMS.
With this it is also possible not only to block these annoying commercial communications, but also to be victims of possible scams related to phishing (mail), vishing (call) or smishing (SMS). Or what is the same, decoys and concealed tricks in offers, discounts and raffles, supplanting the identity of a company, organization, entity or person.
Therefore, if the comments in this TIP seem familiar to you because you usually find yourself in this situation, do not hesitate to use all public means to defend your rights and report these irregularities, which sometimes go beyond the lines of advertising harassment.
