“Be the best version of yourself“
Why is it important to update?
As cyber-attack techniques and types of existing viruses are constantly improving and evolving, the technology companies from which we buy computers, phones, tablets and all kinds of digital products, are forced to constantly correct bugs and make security improvements, to continue to ensure the privacy of all our information.
This is precisely the purpose of the updates, so that our devices are no longer vulnerable to these possible cyber-attacks or viruses, and we can continue to use them with complete confidence.
In the daily use of new technologies there are updates that depend on the IT department or are performed automatically, but there are others that require the person using the computer or phone to click on the corresponding “update now and restart” or “postpone” buttons.
As users of the devices we use in our work environment, and even more so if we are in a remote work or teleworking situation, we must be aware of the importance of updates, we must be aware of the importance of updates. And, even if we do not understand the improvements that each new version brings, our only task is to update when the corresponding warning appears on the screen, so that we can continue to use the technology safely.
It is true that sometimes we reach an update limit and we get a message that prevents us from using certain programs or applications on our devices, especially on cell phones. This means that the system (what allows a computer or cell phone to work) is no longer compatible with the new version of the update. Devices have a life cycle that we sometimes refer to as “planned obsolescence”. Once the maximum usefulness has been reached, it becomes out of date and we must, necessarily, replace it with a newer model, with greater functionality and improved safety aspects.
We must apply this same advice both in the workplace and on a personal level. Depending on our lifestyles, technology surrounds us in many areas (computers, cell phones, tablets, watches, smart TVs or speakers, car computers, etc.) and it is better to play it safe than to suffer the consequences of a cyber-attack or virus that we could have avoided… UPDATING.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We remind you again that if you have any doubts related to technology or cybersecurity, let the IT department know, so that they can advise you appropriately. And on a personal level, consult the information available on the Internet, ask experts or contact the support teams of the programs and applications.
