In our SECURE&TIPS sometimes it will seem to you that we speak in an invented language, especially if we use words related to Cybersecurity or Data Protection, that you have not heard or, you know them, but you do not know very well what they mean.

For this reason, we would like to make a brief summary of the words that we will use most frequently throughout this year:

  • INFORMATION SECURITY: This refers to all the security measures that we apply in our personal and professional lives, which can be both digital and physical. From a password to an alarm system.
  • CYBERSECURITY: Refers only to security measures that protect at the IT level, which includes both devices (computers, cell phones, tablets, etc.) and their content (photos, documents, files, e-mails, etc.).
  • PRIVACY OF INFORMATION: This refers to ensuring that unauthorized third parties do not know information that we consider confidential or private, whether it is personal or professional, and regardless of the format in which it is available (verbal or written).
  • PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA: As its own name indicates, in this case we would only talk about how to protect those data that may identify a natural person, not a company, nor a public entity or other living beings, such as, for example, pets.
  • CYBERATTACK: Any fraud, swindle or crime committed by a person (cybercriminal) or a criminal organization, using electronic means (e-mails, internet pages, applications, phone calls, etc.). In most cases, they seek to obtain an economic benefit and can cause serious damage both to our privacy and to the security of the devices we use.
  • ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI): It is a computer system, or if you prefer, let’s call it a very powerful computer, endowed with advanced skills and functions that allow it to think as an extremely intelligent person would and give an answer on any subject in a very short time. Users interact with AI through computer programs, applications, internet search engines, smart speakers, interactive toys, etc.
